The collection takes its inspiration from the Grey Gardens mansion and its eccentric inhabitants, Edith Ewing Bouvier and her daughter, Edith Bouvier Beale.

“Big Edie” and “Little Edie,” the aunt and first cousin, respectively, of Jackie Kennedy Onassis, lived together from the 50s to the 70s in their East Hampton estate, Grey Gardens, which took its name from the sand dunes, the cement garden walls and the sea mist. Members of society’s elite until the failure of their respective romantic relationships saw them plunged into a decadent life of squalor, driving them to insanity and isolating themselves from the world; they lived on limited funds, obsessed with their opulent past.

 

The Beales’ aesthetic influence is reflected in the collection through the once vibrant, now faded tones, their clothes and how they are combined, headscarves, fur coats, luxurious materials and vintage heirloom jewelry. Their dreamy and somewhat surreal personalities are also reflected in many of the Fall/Winter pieces.

Prints are very important, seen in clothing as well as bags and shoes. Nature, the garden and the colors found throughout the residence are some of the main sources of inspiration, as well as geometric shapes and paisley patterns found in a lot of their clothing.

The combination of materials and styles is key to recreating the aesthetic of these two women who left their imprint with their fascinating lives.
