Scent inspired by natural elements bottled in mother of pearl and enamel bottle requiring 200 artisan hours to craft– “Legacy” –exclusively at Bloomingdale’s & Harvey Nichols

Perfumer extraordinaire Alexandre. J has announced the introduction of his new olfactive creation, Legacy. Contained in a bottle that requires artisans over 200 hours to make, Legacy is available exclusively at Bloomingdale’s & Harvey Nichols, for perfume connoisseurs wanting to experience the Alexandre. J’s riposte to natural elements.

J says the scent comes from a moment of pure inspiration at a beach where he saw nature’s elements blend harmoniously in orchestral interplay. “Legacy is my attempt to capture a moment of intense, natural bliss, and is my answer to whether art mimics nature exactly or in fact tries to interpret it. Legacy is my painstakingly crafted interpretation of a moment of pure natural joy,” he said.


Described as an unconventional work of art, Legacy is available in White or Black. Legacy White combines light and fruity notes with patchouli and base notes of amber to contemplate natural femininity.  Legacy Black has top notes of raspberry, orange and peppercorn riding on a musky and spicy wooden base to create a masculine offering that stays true to the natural artistry of Legacy.

The Legacy bottle is a work of fine art in itself. It requires painstaking artisanship to transform fine precious materials into a finished objet d’art. 200 hours are required to shape, polish, enamel and inlay by hand. Mother of pearl is used extensively to convey the same natural exhilaration the perfumer felt at the moment of Legacy’s birth, while the enamel cap pays homage to the element of fire.
